What we found

  1. Substack leads, on 50% of the sites using a publishing tool, 4.2 times as many sites as Open Journal Systems.
  2. Only 14 of the 147 publishing tools we track run on more than 1% of these sites.
  3. Among sites launched in September, Letterman AI rose to #7 from #58 in August.
  4. Hatena Blog is a regional leader, used almost entirely by sites in Japan.
